We learned about the States of Matter by making Root Beer Floats. We labeled them using the Pixie App.

My Five Senses
We used the Pixie App to label the five senses on our face.
I used the Animoto App to put it into a video.
This cute techy idea originated from Jessica DelMontes Blog Page.

Butterfly Symmetry

The students learned about symmetry by drawing a butterfly in the Amaziograph app. When they drew on one side it showed up on the other. I put it into a video using the Animoto app.

The Four Seasons: Student Books
My students loved making their own online books in the Scribble My Story App. We wrote about the four seasons.
The students can edit, save and record themselves reading their story. The app stores the books so they can go back and read it again and again.
This is a great tutorial on how to create a scribble book:
You can also take a screen shot of the students work and put the pictures in PicStitch to create one photo:
The students also used the Pixie App to color trees in season and label them.

Plant Parts Flip Book
We drew a flower onto a flip book, labeled each part and then wrote a sentence to explain what that part does on the inside. The students loved that each page could flip up but that together it was the whole flower.

Four Seasons OP Art
Here is our Four Seasons OP Art project. Half of the class did Winter and Spring and the other half did Summer and Fall. From one side you can see Spring on the top and summer on the bottom and on the other side you can see Winter on the top and Fall on the bottom. It's looks better in person:)
Here is how we did it. The students drew their picture on two pieces of paper (I made rular sized lines on them because that part is always hard).
When they were done they glued them onto another piece of paper in a pattern, one strip at a time and then accordian folded it to create the optical illusion.

Season List Poems
After reading:
Each student chose their favorite season and then listed as many words as they could to go with that season. It was about ten minutes of free writing. When time was up they circled seven of the words to put in their list poem. The poem starts with their favorite season, lists the words they chose and then ends with their favorite season. When they were finished they typed up their words and put them into Tagxedo. The picture had to fit their season.
It's pretty simple to figure out but here's a tutorial:

4 Seasons Pop-Up Book
We learned about the four seasons and things that are symmetrical by putting a pop up book together. They look way better in person!
I traced the symmetrical patterns onto a folded 6x12 inch piece of paper, the students cut and popped out the shape. We tore pieces of paper to create a background. I attached the ribbon with a brad so they could tie the book closed. The students had to decide whether the shape was symmetrical or not and then I folded it to see if both sides were the same and then we sorted by symmetrical or not symmetrical.
