Phonogram Connect Four

Phonogram Connect Four
I am taking a Words Their Way class and one of the assignments was to make a game...so here it is. I made two different phonogram games.
Directions: Make one copy of the game board and two sets of game cards, each on a different color, one for each player. The student chooses a card, reads the word and then places it on an open spot with that phonogram. They keep taking turns until someone connects four of their cards or they can no longer play. If play stops they can count their cards on the board to determine who wins. If the student reads a word and can't find a place for it on the board they lose their turn.

sh Activities

On the back of a piece of paper we sorted words by beginning or ending with sh.
On the other side we glued on an sh and then wrote and illustrated words that had sh in them.

These are great online activities, there is an sh word match, concentration, word searches, etc.

Blending Bingo

We played CVC bingo just to get the hang of the game and then tried the harder blending bingo.  All you have to do is print the bingo cards. They go from CVC words to practicing different phonemes, it's great for leveled groups. You pass out the cards, press the button and the words slowly appear on the screen. It was great reading practice and sooo much of fun! We used smarties to mark our boards. When one person won we switched our cards and played another game.

th Posters

After saying for the billionth time that th together never days tuuu huuu... :) We came up with a list of words that have th in them and made posters. The students wrote the word and drew the picture. To make it more challenging they wrote a sentence for each.
