Odd and Even Game

This odd and even game idea from  E is for Explore was a huge hit in my classroom. It's played like rock, paper, scissor but they use their fingers instead and add them to get an odd or even number. Each partner chose odd or even and then they tallied to twenty to make a fun game of it.

I made a simple chart to introduce odd and even and then we used sticky notes to see the connection to bigger numbers. I had them give me a number between two numbers to practice that as well, such as...give me a number between 20 and 40.

Odd and Even on a Ten Frame

The students count the number, if it has a pair it's even, if it doesn't it's odd. I love how it's so easy to see on the ten frame and these printables are great!

Math Coach's Corner also has a great printable for comparing numbers click HERE.

Odd and Even Numbers

Odd or Even?
Directions: Each student needs an odd and even recording sheet. The student chooses a number card and then starting on the odd side places a manipulative underneath each side, rotating as he/she goes. When the student has decided if the number is odd (doesn't have a match) or even (has a match) they color the number on the correct side of their piece of paper.
Hopefully they start to see a pattern!

Here are two GREAT book to read:
