Our Harcourt story this week is Dan's Pet so we learned about chickens, drew them and then created a chart in Popplet.

Papier Mache Piggies
These are the Papier Mache Piggies we made for our school art show. I got this adorable idea from a second grade teacher at my sons school. We blew up a balloon and taped Dixie cups to it for the legs and snout and cardboard triangles for the ears. We mixed equal parts flour and water in a bowl, dipped strips of paper into the mixture and then covered the pigs. We only used one layer and that seemed to be enough. We mixed pink and white to create the color for our pigs and then painted them. I hot glued on a pipe cleaner tail when they were dry.
Here are the other First Grade Eric Carle themed murals from our art show this year.

Farm Animal Riddles:
We chose an animal to write a riddle about and then used how to draw directions to draw it. Then we shadow cut it out and glued it onto the barn. You can print off how to draw animals from
makinglearningfun.com
and print off directions to draw farm animals.
Call out tens and ones. Have the students color that number on Mrs. Wishy Washys game board.Game Board
