Pumpkin Persuasion

We created a jack-o-lantern by virtually carving a pumpkin online and printing the picture we created.

This is our background. We used purple and green tints and shades to create it and then cut out a tree silhouette for the edge.

We wrote persuasion letters to get other students to vote on our jack-o-lantern.

I even got in on the virtual carving!
This is what we used to help organize our writing. I helped them edit it. They are still a little slow to transfer an edited piece, so I typed them for them. We read the final draft to our class and then were the first to vote.

The big idea for this project was persuasive writing with a purpose for extra motivation but it ended up being the best integrated project for almost every area. Here are some of the things we learned:
Technology: Virtual Pumpkin Carving
Writing: Persuasive Writing with a Purpose
Social Studies: Voting
Math: Tally and Count Votes
Art: Tints 'n Shades with purple and then green.

Here is the virtual pumpkin carver we used. I love it because they can draw it themselves. To print I just clicked on print preview and then changed the picture layout to landscape and printed:

We used this to help us organize our writing:
