Snowflake Art

The students put a snowflake die cut on a piece of white construction paper and then sponge painted over the top with warm or cool colors. When they were finished they removed the snowflake.

My coworker made these adorable snowmen with snowflakes they had made.
Here is a template to practice.

How to make: Borax Snowflakes
We made snowflakes with pipe cleaners and Borax. My only tip for this would be to let the students practice twisting the snowflakes to get them to stay, so that each snowflake has six sides. While they are figuring out the pipe cleaners you can be pouring the hot water in with the Borax.

  1. I love your sponge painted snowflakes. I wish we had a die cut machine. They don't seem to be popular in the schools around here. Take care!
