My latest greatest math tool find. Draw a number line with sharpie on a ziploc slider bag and use the slider as the tool to add or subtract two numbers. I just filled the bags with addition and subtration cards. I put a piece of white paper in the bag also because it made the numbers a little easier to see. You can add a self check component by writing the answer on the back of each card. I probably should have started with zero...but you can use whatever numbers you want or leave it an open ended number line.
What an AWESOME idea!! Thanks for sharing it!

Good morning,
ReplyDeleteI think this is a brilliant idea! I will definitely be using this with my lot.
My name is Abby and I help to run a website offering hundreds of free early years and KS1 teaching resources called Early Learning HQ (www.earlylearninghq.org.uk).
I can see that you are talking about number lines and I was wondering if you would have a little look at ours and see what you think. We have lots of different themes and they are all designed by me and a small team in Swansea, so it would be nice to share them with some more people! You can have a look at them here: http://www.earlylearninghq.org.uk /numeracy/ numberlines/.
If you like our stuff then perhaps you would consider linking to our page so other people can find it as well? If you would like me to make any other resources then please let me know and I’ll see what I can do :).
Many thanks,
Abby
Love this idea! I am going to figure out a ay to adapt it for 5th grade. I am thinking negative numbers or decimals and fractions???? If anyone has any ideas....stop by and let me know!
